The Sky Guard are the champions of the Human Lords in the Mountain Kingdom. Riding the flying beasts that make their homes among the peaks, they have personally been responsible for the routing of more invading armies than any other heroes in the realm. The trials to become a Sky Guard are quite difficult and their numbers are small, but their effectiveness in combat is undeniable. From the backs of their mighty steeds, they inspire hope in the hearts of their comrades, and fear in the hearts of their enemies, swooping in with talons, teeth and spears ready to vanquish those who stand before them.

Although not their favored terrain, all Sky Guards train their mounts to fight in closer quarters while on the ground as well, recognizing that sometimes enemies will not afford them the luxury of an open sky to attack from.

Many Sky Guards turn to a life of adventuring between wars as a form of training and to recover lost treasure for their homeland. Travel and combat are seen as a vital part of the rise in rank amongst the Sky Guard chapters of the Mountain Kingdom's, and as such, when not charged with the defense of their homeland, are encouraged to seek fortune and glory in the name of their Lords.
